Sign this [for me]

Hello members!

Is it correct to say "Please sign this for me." if I am signing a contract with a costumer, and I want them to sign on the paper?

I think saying 'for me' is more polite than not saying it.

Do you agree?
Thanks!

sdgraham, in your opinion, how should one choose one's words in such cases? My own suggestion, if one is facing the customer and speaking to them: "Could I ask you to sign here, please", but I'm not sure.
