Sign up for an event/a service

I am putting together an email for our customers advising then of an online event on updates to our product. I need to create a button linking to the registration page. I would like to label this this registration button

"Sign up for the live event"

would I say

"Inscrivez vous à l'événement en direct"

Not sure how to say "sign up for" in this context. "S'abonner à"?

Nous nous sommes récemment abonnés à la surveillance de Google AdWords.

Oui, s'abonner à dans le sens inscrits à une lettre de diffusion ou un service.
A noter que là où l'anglais prend une subscription, le français s'abonne à un magazine.
