Hola a todo el mundo.
Tengo una duda con respecto al uso de "since" en su traduccion "ya que"

El texto original que escribí era:
"previous observations showed these bacteria as one of the more acidophilic species, being able to grow in cultures with a higher acid content"

y he recibido la siguiente corrección:
"previous observations showed these bacteria as one of the more acidophilic species, since able to grow in cultures with a higher acid content"

No sería más correcto "since they are / since it is"..., es decir, no le faltaría el sujeto?

    Yes, the "corrected" version is incorrect. That said, throughout school I was usually taught that using the word "being" is considered to be poor style (though not incorrect) so perhaps that's where the correction came from. Still, like you said, it would need to be "since they are/since it is."
