six-well plate

Estoy estudiando un paper de bioquìmica y en una parte se refiere a "six-well plate" no entiendo si quiere decir seis placas o es un tipo de placa que se llama six-well, el contexto es el siguiente:
"Human gingival fibroblasts were cultured with 25-500 μg/ml of nicotine in collagen-coated six-well plates."

six-well is adjectival: placas de seis (¿cuencos?).

In chemistry, a well plate is used to mix small amounts of chemicals together, or just to hold them. They are usually made of plastic, and have several 'wells' that are separate from each other.
