1) tackle (when the defender kicks the ball)
2) slide tackle (when the defender slides and kicks the ball away)

I will change fullback for "zaguero", just for its name in "rugby". Anyway, I agree with gengo's post.

Edit: In Spanish football (Fútbol), a slide tackle would be "una barrida".

Parece que es un defensa izquierdo/derecho, pero los esquemas actuales a veces ya no funcionan con roles tan rígidos como defensa y ocupan lño que aquí se llama un "carrilero" que es un jugador que normalmente hace funciones defensivas, pero que sorpresivamente deja su posición y se lanza al ataque desde su lugar avanzando por uno de los lados del campo.

Es el defensa pero cómo se usa "slide tackle" en una oración. En el inglés podemos usarla como verbo

Slide taclke is not a position is a play when to try to get the ball from one rival player by sliding on the grass. There are 2 versions the formal one quite deslizante but is not often used it, and the common one that is barrida. See this picture

Some examples how to use it in Spanish are:

El defensa le hizo una barrida al delantero
El jugador se barrió por el balón
