Slovak: Oblok vs okno

Senior Member
A small mistake of my printed dictionary raised this question, since it does not include the word “oblok” just “oblokový”.

Are “oblok” and “okno” interchangeable or is there anything to remember when using them.

I also checked the former threads, but found no more about it than this one Balkan "Stock" Vocabulary

I’d avoid using “oblok” in everyday speech. It’s an outdated word (you might sometimes come across it in books/novels etc as well). It’s pretty much an archaism at this point. Maybe it’s still part of some people’s vocabulary who speak in regional dialects, but you’re best off using “okno” (to mean a window) pretty much 100% of the time.
