Slovak: torrential rain

Is this true that when talking of talking of torrential downpouring rain, Slovak speakers used the expression "Tractors are falling down"?

Basically true, though hand-carts or wheelbarrows was what the coiners of the phrase almost certainly had on mind.

"Padajú traktory" or "Leje ako z krhly" = It's raining cats and dogs. The second idiom is much more common though. Also, there's another idiom with tractors: "aj keby traktory padali", which means "in any case", anyway; for instance: Pôjdem tam aj keby traktory padali. = I'm going there whatever happens.

In Czech, we have "padají trakaře" rather than "traktory". Maybe we are somewhat more conservative in this respect.
