Hello!
Could anybody help me with that expression please? Is it an insult?
The word pants is used in so many expressions... Does anybody know the origin of it by any chance?
Would that be like saying LISTILLO or am I completely wrong?
Kind regards and thanks a lot!!!

Smarty pants is usually a child's expression meaning more or less sabelotodo or sabidillo. An American adult would more likely say "smart alec" or even "smart ass".

It's an extremely mild (but cute) way of teasing somebody who is too clever for their own good. It's an expression that you may hear a parent or an adult use when speaking to/referring to a very precocious child.

Sí, a smarty pants es como un listillo. No es un insulto exactamente... normalmente se lo dice en plan irónico.
