(2) Smith,covered in mud,came home from the football match. is those sentences correct and can i use coma.

    In my view, the following are acceptable:


    (1) Covered in mud, Smith came home from the football match.

    (2) Smith, covered in mud, came home from the football match.



    Your use of the comma is correct. Please notice that there should be a space after the comma.
    Also, we use standard capitalization and punctuation in this forum. :)
