Smoke beetle
Ciao ragazzi,

come tradurreste questa specie di insetti?

Coleotteri, scarabei, scarafaggi... che roba è di preciso?

Grazie in anticipo.

I'm not sure what you are asking about since smoke beetle in the title is not among the questions in the body of your post.

Beetles belong to the order coleoptera. Scarabeo = scarab, or more commonly a beetle. Scarafaggio is a cockroach but, as far as I know, it is a different species from beetles.

Beh, non è che ci voglia un grande contesto, ho letto questa specie di insetto (smoke beetle... è scritto nel titolo) e non saprei come renderla in italiano.

    Contesto:

This smoke beetle has some strange sense organs at the base of its thorax.
The lab experiments suggest that a beetle can detect the heat from a 10 hectare forest fire up to 12 kilometers away. And the beetle can also pinpoint the exact direction of the blaze. Beetles are drawn from a wide area to the smoldering logs and it’s here that they find their partners and mate.

    From the dictionary.com:
    beetle

    –noun
    1. any of numerous insects of the order Coleoptera, characterized by hard, horny forewings that cover and protect the membranous flight wings.
    2. (loosely) any of various insects resembling the beetle, as a cockroach.
