Hi,

I'm trying to translate this into french... I've translated is from the old French "si m’aïst Dex" and now have to translate it back to modern French. "Aidez moi dieu" is the closest I've got but I was wondering if there is a set phrase like in English?

Further context is required but this is generally the language of an oath. This is not the same as God help me.
Its a reply to a question by the lady in the script:

"Et qui est, fet ele, cil chevaliers qui est venuz avec vos ?"
". Et qui est, dit-elle, ce chevalier qui est venu avec vous ?"
"Dame, fet il, si m’aïst Dex, ge ne sei qui est, fors tant seulement que preudom me semble..."
"(Ma)Dame, dit-il, Que Dieu me vienne en aide, je ne sais pas qui il est, sauf qu’il me semble un homme vaillant"

I hope my interpretation into French is ok...

    French
"Dame, fet il, si m’aïst Dex, ge ne sei qui est, fors tant seulement que preudom me semble..."
"(Ma)Dame, dit-il, que Dieu me vienne en aide, je ne sais pas qui il est, sauf qu’il me semble un homme vaillant"
    Capital letter only for Dieu.
I think that "que Dieu me vienne en aide" is really good, however, you could also use in this context "par Dieu" :
"...dit-il, par Dieu, je ne sais qui il est, mais il me semble être un vaillant homme"
