E.g."Jake took something I said about her mother out of context. And told his mother. So she overreacted, as is her nature."

Is it natural to drop "is" in the above sentence? I.e "...So she overreacted, as her nature."

    What does "as is" mean? It looks to me like part of an elliptical sentence. If so, what's the full sentence?
