soggetto e trattamento (cinema)

Hi guys,

I am translating a document about a film, and I am not sure about how to translate "soggetto" and "trattamento"

The sentence is: "xxx ha scritto il soggetto e il trattamento del film"

I'd translate "soggetto" with "story" (not sure about it though), but I have no clue about "trattamento". Here's a short description of the term from wikipedia:

"il trattamento è uno dei passaggi intermedi tra il soggetto e la sceneggiatura e consiste nell'approfondire e ampliare in una forma narrativa simile al racconto il soggetto iniziale; è il materiale che poi lavorato dagli sceneggiatori diventerà la sceneggiatura finale"

Hi! Nel glossario dell'IMDB ho trovato:

Treatment
An abridged script; longer than a synopsis. It consists of a summary of each major scene of a proposed movie and descriptions of the significant characters and may even include snippets of dialogue. While a complete script is around 100 pages, a treatment is closer to 10.
