Hello amigos!:)

I wonder, what would the difference between them be? the former is related to the lyrics and the latter to the melody?

Thanks in advance;

    I think you're right.
    A songwriter technicallly means he wrote the song, but to me it suggests especially that he wrote the lyrics, though he could have written the melody also.

    A composer reminds me more of someone who writes a symphony or the like.

    I think I agree with the subtle distinction between the two terms.

    Composer does seem to be usd to describe a person who writes "serious" classical music or orchestral music.

    A songwriter is a person who writes the music and lyrics to individual songs.

    A person who writes only the words is called a lyricist. Bernie Taupin is Elton John's lyricist.
