Bonjour,

Je suis en train de rédiger un dossier sur l'Iran et son programme nucléaire.
J'aurais voulu dire : A cette époque, le Shah souhaitait construire 23 centrales d'ici la fin des années 90.

Est-ce que cette phrase est correcte, j'ai un doute sur la traduction du "souhaitait"...
At that time, the Shat hoped for builidng 23 power stations by the end of the 1990s.

    I'd say "planned" seem better here:
    "At the time, the Shah had planned to build 23 power stations by the end of the 1990s"

    "At the time, the Shah had wanted/wished to build 23 power stations by the end of the 1990s"

    I think that there's a big difference in French between "souhaiter" and the English "plan". "Plan" can refer to a definite plan, as well as to a strong wish. "Souhaiter" can only refer to a wish in French.
