The project will be carried out in a ........ of five years.
(space / timing)

I chose "timing" , is it correct?

    No. Period is the only word that would work, but even that’s not ideal.

    The project will be carried out in a period of five years. :thumbsdown:
    The project will be carried out within [a period of] five years. :thumbsup:

    Projects like this can usually be carried out within the space of 5 years. :tick:
