This statement is especially special because I figure that most people would say something like...

Someone told me that the semantics of this sentence changes if a comma is a added before 'because'. Could somebody please explain this. Thanks.

    I don't think a comma is required before because, and I don't see how putting one there would change the sentence. Did you ask "someone" what difference it would make?
