sq. (abbreviation sequiturque)

Hi again.

In some bibliographic references i foun the abreviation "sq." after the number of the page. I suppose that in english the meanin is "square" but I have no idea the meaning in Desutsch

Help again!!

    In my understanding,
    sq. stands for et sequens (German: f.), and
    sqq. stands for et sequentes (German: ff.).

    Of course, the above may also be interpreted as sequensque (sq.) and sequentesque (sqq.), respectively.

    I can't see why a third person singular (sequitur) should be involved.

    sqq. = sequunturque = and [the ones that] follow.
    et/& seq. = et sequens = and [the] following [one].
    et/& seqq. = et sequentes = and [the] following [ones].
