Hi, everyone.

This is from "The Bat" by Jo Nesbo.

‘Is that her?’ Watkins had asked, and Harry had answered in the negative.
When he repeated the question Harry spotted her shoulder blades sticking out, showing red skin next to a white strip where her bikini top had been.

In this scene, they dragged the corpse and lay her on her back.
I don't get what "her shoulder blades sticking out" mean.
She is aleady naked.

Well, not having read the book but assuming she has died a brutal death I would say this is literal - her shoulder blades can be seen outside of her skin - they have come out from her flesh. OR - such as when you see very very thin people , you can see the mark of their bones where their flesh/skin is as if they have such a thin layer of skin it is easy to see where their skeleton is)

This would almost have to be the case if she's lying on her back and they can see her shoulder blades....
