    My guess is as follows:
    Greek army took the control over the country and they intentionally tried to damage the dignity of the Goddess? I am not sure.

    The Grecian army are doing something to "a Goddess-worshipping Mesopotamian empire", not to the Goddess herself.

    Have you tried looking up subdue, intentionally, relegate and obscurity in the Word Reference dictionary?

    I know the exact meanig of each word and my questions is what this sentences intends to convey to its readers, especially relegated to obscurity . Any help?
