suggesting vs which suggests

I am wondering if there is a difference between "suggesting" and "which suggests."

For example, are the below sentences the same? Are they both grammatically correct?

"Monica has many cats, which suggests that she likes cats."

"Monica has many cats, suggesting that she likes cats."

I would say that both of these sentences are equally correct. They aren't the same, obviously, because one has "suggesting" and the other has "which suggests." In a particular context, one of these frameworks might sound better or be more clear than the other.
