Does "surgical cord" mean "spinal cord" in the following sentence? It is from an article talking about a brain transplant surgery about to be operated.
"We will simply cut the surgical cord, and over 6 to 12 hours, monitor their recovery and neuro-physiological conduction (electrical impulses).We now have a better substance that can renew the severed spinal cord."

    No, we would never use surgical cord to mean spinal cord. But it may refer to an artificial spinal cord previously implanted.
