Which is better?

1) Harry went into the room wearing a red hat. We all stared at him surprised.
2) Harry went into the room wearing a red hat. We all stared at him surprisedly.
3) Harry went into the room wearing a red hat. We all stared at him in surprise.

Thanks in advance.

I would say that 1 is all right with a comma before surprised. I wouldn't use 2 at all. And my preference is for 3.
