Sway or rock

I'm talking about a patient with acute asthmatic attack. He struggles to breathe in and out. While doing so, he sways(or rocks) his body back and forth to facilitate his breathing.

I’m not sure which one (sway or rock) is better in this context. If both are not correct, please let me know the correct one.

Thank you in advance.

Rocks is my choice. Sways doesn't fit as well even if you take out the "body" part.

While doing so, he sways back and forth to facilitate his breathing.

Sways is a gentle, usually enjoyable, motion. You might sway when you're listening to music, but it doesn't seem right for a situation where you're fighting to breathe.
