Syrian Arabic: The process takes a long time.

I'm talking to someone who is trying to come to Canada as a refugee. I want to tell him that "the process takes a long time" (meaning the application process).

What is the best way of phrasing this (The process can take years). Would عملية be the best word or إجرئات?

The word that is used is معاملة.

    المعاملة بدا وقت كتير
    المعاملة يمكن تاخد سنين

    Hi,

    Examples:
The process of legislation in the parliament
Process of approving a construction permit by the municipality
Process of evaluating a judicial case by a law office
The process of licensing an engineer

Can the word معالجة be used to refer to the handling itself, or معالجة is only for dealing with a problem, an issue, medical problem, etc?

    Thanks
