Dear all

How to understand " take it out of commision for a bit" as in:

If you misplaced your card or just want to take it out of commision for a bit, you can lock your card so it can't be used. Everything back to normal? You can unlock your card any time.

Here the card means the e-card.

Thanks

James

To put something into commission is the opposite of 'to take it out of commission'. It means... to start using and to stop using. But those are official terms normally used with big machines, highways, infrastructural projects, tanks, ships, etc.
