Bonjour,

comment traduiriez-vous "that had to be worth something" ? Quelque chose comme "ça n'avait pas de prix" ?

Quelqu'un envoie une photo marrante et un autre et cela fait rire ce dernier.

It was stupid but it made him laugh—and really, that had to be worth something, didn’t it?

    An English equivalent would be "that had to count for something, didn't it?" The idea is that, even though the joke/the incident was stupid, it had made him laugh, and making him laugh was a desirable secondary outcome/result. (Probably because it was usually difficult to make this fellow laugh.)

    I don't know if that helps....
