Hello, please, from Frankenstein by Mary Shelley:

No sympathy may I ever find. When I first sought it, it was the love of virtue, the feelings of happiness and affection with which my whole being overflowed, that I wished to be participated.

Does this mean to be shared?

Thank you!

Seeing that the book was written in 1818, it obviously has some archaic words. You may be right because, in The Free Dictionary (participate), the verb is listed as archaic, meaning "to share."
