"Precaution" is always countable, so, shouldn't it be "a precaution"? Thanks.

    It's not always countable.

    'That is a precaution' sounds more natural to me, but there is nothing incorrect as originally written. Dean is telling Sam that having the dagger under his pillow is a precautionary measure.
