Hi all! My friend wrote:

Jason said:" Even though that time behind bars were full of bitterness, it was the most precious gift of my life."

I'm not sure whether the pink word is ok? Should it be "was"?

    Yes, you’re correct. You might mention to your friend that if “were” were correct, he or she would need “they were the most precious gift of my life.”
