the difference between situated, located, placed...

Hi everybody!
I need to translate a sentence into English
"l'altipiano di chiavano è situato tra l'Umbria e il Lazio"

do I need to use the verb situated, located, placed?

Can somebody explain me the difference between these words?

Puoi usare situated o located. Userei located perche e' piu' commune. Non userei placed perche ha il senso che qualcuno ha messo qualcosa in un posto. Situated e located hanno il sense che si trova qualcosa in un posto.
