Dear all,

When I want to refer to the species of fishes living in the Yangtze River, which one do you think is better, the fishes of the Yangtze River or the fishes in the Yangtze River?

Thanks in advance.

'Fishes of' sounds better, as meaning those that are typically or naturally there. 'Fishes in' sounds like the ones that are there now - perhaps a count or survey has just been done.
