I find the flesh of the sweet potato makes a lovely smooth gnocchi so I often make this dish for supper.
OED

This phrase doesn't make sense to me:confused:... How can sweet potato make gnocchi... What does that mean?
Thanks.

One can use sweet potatoes as the main ingredient in gnocchi.

Similarly, "Whole wheat flour makes a hearty bread."

A question -- should I understand this as the dictionary definition refers to both "make" in the sentence, or to the latter only (I often make this dish for supper) and there is another definition for the "make" you described? If so, could you show this definition in a dictionary ? (I couldn't find)
