What does the last sentence mean?

I take it to mean “live a long life while still acting and feeling young.”

There is a saying: "Live fast, die young." -> Have an adventurous, reckless, and eventful life and die before age starts to affect you adversely. It is often said about pop-stars and similar.

So thus the idea is "to do adventurous and reckless things and have an eventful life but to postpone dying for as long as possible."
