Hello, I do not speak Finnish, I wonder how you call whole families in Finnish, I mean English say "The Smiths". So simply in Plural. In Hungarian it is a little bit complicated, that's why I am asking. So, how would you say e.g. "the Mäkinens" in Finnish? Thanks.

Mäkiset, Smithit, etc: the plural nominative. If the family name is a foreign one and does not easily fit to this, or if you want make a distinction between a particular family and all their namesakes, you could say Smithien perhe (the family of Smiths'), Mäkisten perhe, or even Mäkisen perhe.
