Am I in the right way?

The tigers roar as they usually do. ( by instinct ) BUT

The tigers growl when they feel threatened.

What are you guys' opinion?

Thanks for sharing!!!

A growl is sort of a grumble, an irregular noise/vibration from the animal's throat. The animal can growl without opening its mouth.

A roar is the loud sound the animal makes with its full voice, opening its mouth wide.

Thus the roar will be heard from farther away. When you are in your flimsy hut, sleeping, you could hear the lions roaring in the distance. If you hear them growling, they are on your doorstep and you are in big trouble.

You gave a very good description. I can imagine and understand them well. Thanks a lot.
