the only one I could <turn to> have her to translate

Senior Member
Hello everyone,

Could someone please correct the following sentence? I would like to acknowledge my friend who helped me a lot when I came to a foreign country not knowing the language at all. She was the only person whom I could ask whatever question related to interpreting business letters and posts, for instance. Can it be like this as below? I hope you can get a hint of my pinch of humor put in this sentence. That's because I want it this way. Not too formal and boring. Here it goes:

"In my first years of living in Germany without knowing German at all, she was the only one I could turn to have her to translate “scary” looking letters and posts coming from different places.

Thank you
