Hi all, I just thought of a sentence:

"The poem is easy to understand/be understood."

I think both are correct but would like to seek confirmation from members here. :)

"The poem is easy to understand." = "The poem is easy (for people) to understand."
"The poem is easy to be understood." = "The poem is easy to be understood (by people)."

If both are correct, is one form more common than the other?

Many thanks!

I wouldn't use the second one above, but perhaps someone else would. Here are two I would use:

"The poem is easy to understand."
    "The poem is easily understood."
