To respond to the above statement, would a native speaker say "my parents are in the same way" or "my parents are of the same way" or "my parents are the same way" or something else?

    I'd probably say "My parents are the same":).

    I'm afraid that none of these would be used in this case (and the first one would not make sense in any context).
    However, as well as the other suggestions, you could say -
    "My parents feel the same (way)"
