The sex

Senior Member
Hi all,

It’s from thr BBC
Here he's relying on the view of Pamela's father who saw them as a strange group known for their nudist parties in the western hills of Peking. Apart from the sex, booze and drugs there was deer hunting and butchery too.
Why ‘the sex, booze and drugs’?
I would not use ‘the’ here.

Thank you.

Taking a quick look at the context, I would imagine that the sex and drugs are not necessarily directly tied, so to speak, to the nudists but to the diversions of the rich and dissolute also present in the area.
