the shooting was unintentional?

Hello everyone:


If I say “the shooting was unintentional” does it mean that “the pulling the trigger happened by accident”, or that “the act of firing the gun was intentional but the shooter had no intention of hurting anyone?

    I agree with JustKate.

    "The shooting was accidental" would definitely mean that the shooter had no intention of hurting anyone. "Unintentional" is a little vague.
