Hi there,

I know that 'pelaje' is used to describe the coat of an animal, however, I want to describe the skin of a dolphin, e.g. their skin is grey. My effort if 'su piel es gris'.

Would be 'piel' be correct to describe a dolphin's skin?

Gracias.

En sentido biológico, también puede usarse "tegumento", "epidermis" o "cutícula".

    Un saludo.

"Piel" is the right word. "Pelaje" is right only when you are talking about hair. If you are talking about a cat or a sheep, for example. But dolphins have no hair, so...:)
