    Thank you. Can I change "man" to player? For example.

    - Man United man --> Man United player.
    - 'Man United are down to ten men' becomes ...down to ten players.

    Yes, your "It is a harsh one on the United man" could instead have been "It is a harsh one on the United player", but in some contexts "United man" and "United player" are not interchangeable.

    Must we talk about Manchester United:(?

    Sound shift, could you tell me what's the difference? And in the sentence "down to ten men", I've never heard commentators say "down to ten players. I have no idea why :-(
