Dear all,
I have a question concerning the following sentence: "he heard the woman gasp". What is "gasp" in this context? A verb or a noun?

Thank you in advance!

Yes, with verbs of perception you can use a participle or an infinitive.
I saw her going. / I saw her go.
I heard her gasping / I heard her gasp.
(There is a subtle difference of aspect between the two forms, which is discussed elsewhere, but I can't find the thread.)
