The World Cup at football?

The World Cup at football was won by Italy in 2006.
This sentence I've found in my book called "Prepairing for English tests..." by one Ukrainian author. I really doubt if it's correct. I suppose The Football World Cup was won by Italy in 2006 is correct. But I wonder if the original varriant is possible.

If it were necessary to distinguish between different types of world cups, I would call the FIFA World Cup "the World Cup of football [or soccer]."
