There is <a> dessert

Hi, everyone.

I would like to know which sentence is better as an utterance in speaking to a diner, (1) or (2).

(1) There is dessert, if you like.
(2) There is a dessert, if you like.

Thank you.

If the speaker is a waiter or waitress in a restaurant where there is (usually) more than one choice, then something like "Can I get you some dessert?" would be better.
