I'm looking for a proper adverb to start the second sentence.
Does 'thus' sound okay?

"However, if these characteristics were to be served as the standard for understanding a dance, how can one say that dances of other cultures do not contain the same elements? Thus, Bellydance is not the only one that embodies..."

"Thus" would be okay. You could also say, "Bellydance, therefore, is not the only one..."
