[1] They offered me money if I would betray my associates.
[2] They would offer me money if I betrayed my associates.


Are both correct? What is the difference?

    1. They have actually offered me money. In return for the money, they want me to betray my associates.

    2. If I betray my associates, after I have betrayed them, these other people will offer me money.
