    Usually it means you have a difficult job pleasing two or more parties. There is a thin or narrow path that divides the two groups, conceptually or politically. By walking (treading) on this line, you don't make any side angry.

    It could also be a fine line along the boundary of legality. It is impossible to say without a clear understanding of what the De Wildt center does, and the writer's opinion of the center.
