    The context is as follows. We did some work previously. Now we have done something which is a natural next step of that work.

    How to phrase it properly?

    If you are talking about new work that follows established/completed work, then one way to say it would be "this is a natural continuation of our previous work".

    But, as lingobingo says, if you could give us some more context then that would help us to help you to ensure we understand what exactly it is that you wish to express.
